I have produced some video guides for getting started with AsteriskNOW. These are based on FreePBX 2.10.
There will be some more guides to follow including configuring IVRs, Voicemail and Call Recording.
1 – Configuring an extension
Creating an extension in FreePBX then doing a echo test call with a softphone
2 – Outbound calling
Adding a SIP call provider to the system and making an outbound test call using the extension created earlier
3 – Inbound calling
Setting up a DID/DDI number for the system and making a test call
Digium, the company behind Asterisk and AsteriskNOW, has been kind enough to send me two of their new handsets to review. These VOIP phones have been specifically designed to work with Asterisk.
These handsets feature –
- Easy provisioning from Asterisk or AsteriskNOW
- Integrated with Asterisk voicemail, directory, parking, call recordings, call queues and more
I have a 2-line D40 and a 4-line D50 and will be writing a few posts soon to show how these phones can be used with a hosted AsteriskNOW PBX to provide a flexible and powerful telephone system.
More information about the handsets can be found here – Digium VOIP phones
SysAdminMan has added AsteriskNOW to the list of available templates.
AsteriskNOW includes the version of Asterisk certified for the new Digium IP Phones plus FreePBX v2.10
