Part 2 – Set up x-lite to use your Elastix extension

This is part 2 of a series of posts on setting up an Elastix extension with A2Billing. See here for details of the other parts – Using A2Billing to account for extension calls in Elastix

X-Lite is a free SIP client and can be downloaded here. There are many others!

Once you get x-lite installed bring up the “SIP Account Settings” page -

navigate to the sip account setup menu

Next enter the details for the extension you setup in Elastix. If you don’t have a DNS name setup you can just enter the IP address of your server where I’ve used a name -

enter you extension details

Make sure the account details you entered look correct then click Close -

check you sip account details are correct

X-Lite should now show that it is Ready. If not go back and make sure all the details you entered are correct -

make sure your extension is registered

Now you should be able to dial the speaking clock on your Elastix system by ringing *60. If everything is working ok you should hear the time read out -

call the speaking clock to test it is working

That’s it. Now go to the next part – Part 3 – Create a trunk in Elastix
